Holly McInally is a Portrait and documentary photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland - UK specialising in capturing memories in a creative way.
She uses photography as a way to document the world. In my own way I strive to freeze the world around me and keep at least a tiny part of it forever. I love photography that is thought-provoking and that could possibly have any number of unique meanings to the viewer. Their view is coloured by their experiences and view of life.
I got into photography at a young age and would initially take photos of myself and family members. As I look back on photos that I have taken previously, I can see my journey as an artist is only just beginning. I look at these now with a more critical eye and have in my mind different ways to improve upon them if I were to take them again now with my new knowledge and increased skills.
I am inspired by the work of Sir Don Mccullin and Robert Capa. They have photographed pivotal moments in World history and as you look at these, you can attempt to understand the thought process behind them and reasons for capturing the images.
Life is fleeting and fragile, this has been documented in various forms throughout history and I want to become a small part of capturing this in some way. This was brought home to me when I lost a loved one and I realised I wanted to grab as many memories as I could to keep them forever. I enjoy being able to photograph the beauty of nature and the loving relationships that people have with each other.
